Facebook is Aiming to become the Digital Video Viewing Hub

In the contemporary scenario the social networking sites play a crucial role in our daily lives. These networking sites have become our next door parks, the local cinema halls and market places whether we regularly interact with people, exchange greeting, view videos and also expose ourselves to compelling news. These sites have huge number of users and this leads to stiff competition between them.

When it comes to watching digital videos, Google-owned YouTube is treated as the central zone for enjoying interesting and innovative videos. But Facebook is all ready to grab a portion of the lucrative advertising dollars that accompany such videos. The company formally announced that it is actually testing a Suggested Video feature that will let the users of Facebook view a group of related videos in a row after they have tapped on one from their respective Newsfeed. The social networking giant also added that it is starting to put ads in between the clips although the company has refrained from elaborating on revenue break ups. The company is still in its initial stages of testing but the results that they have derived is certainly encouraging as people who have suggested videos are ascertaining and viewing more videos.

There are other interesting things that the company is experimenting with it comes to digital video viewing. A new exclusive video section will be noted with the help of a small “play-button” icon situated between “Requests” and “Notifications” on the bottom of the app. While testing, this particular section boost of the combination of videos the user has saved for later usage (a brand new feature), videos from friends, the Pages the users has subscribed to or the indiscriminately suggested content from the other video publishers. The company is also exploring a brand new way to have videos “float” at the top right side of the screen while the users can go through other stories in their feed.

This big leap into digital video sphere will help make Facebook a much more attractive proposition for the advertisers and will help explore more monetization opportunities.
